Here are some photos taken from Ena's blog debuting the in-store AW2012 designs already on shelves (is it not still Summer?!). I definitely can pick out some key pieces that I am dying to have in my own wardrobe but I'm not sure what kind of direction Ena has gone this time. She says this collection's concept is 'SNAP MUSE' which takes inspiration from bloggers, fashion editors, and super models. Does this collection make you think of those three things? In my own opinion, yes and no. Let's take a look at the runway collection and see what else Ena has brought to the table!
RUNWAY COLLECTION:
This collection definitely has a lot of DRAMA, high fashion-esque items, and an interesting choice of blue, red, and dark forest green color. It definitely screams EMODA while also sticking with the collection's theme. I thought it was interesting that she attached these odd English statements on the clothes: smart or not? I would have gotten rid of them but I guess it adds a bit of wonder to the collection. I hate hate HATE beanies, so those definitely should have never made it on the runway. Maybe for a men's fashion show but NEVER for a women's line (my own opinion, ladies!).
I feel like I haven't seen this side of the EMODA brand before so I'm really liking this collection, even though there are some drawbacks to it. Not sure about so much skin being shown since it is for Fall/Winter but hey I'm not complaning! If I had that kind of body I wouldn't care what time of year it is!笑
EMODA is all about patterns, and I love that they have stuck with that with this collection like they did with Spring. I love the stripes, the Renaissance-looking prints on the tops, and gothic influences. I love that they brought leather into this collection, so very sexy and so popular as well! Extra points for adding fur to the collection, always a must!
Overall? I don't think I could ever hate EMODA but that doesn't mean that I can like everything that is produced. I think that I definitely can pick out some items in this collection that I'd love to have but overall I do like this collection and it 100% brings them back up from where they fell so horribly with the S/S 2012 collection.
What are your thoughts? Do you like this collection or what would you change?
I'll be writing a report about MURUA's AW2012 COLLECTION next, so be on the lookout for that!

I never understand why there are all (what seems to be) American models in an Asian fashion show. I think for the clientele there should be a mix of models. Meh.
返信削除I wonder if the length will be better on the consumer version of her fashions.
I enjoy the color scheme, though, I do have to admit XD;; And I dislike the beanie too! I thought it was a hat with a pompom on top and I got all excited D:
I really like a lot of these items. I think that's because it's really leaning towards a European style this season. I can see the 'blogger' link that they're making with the styling but that's about it. Anyway, I would add a ton of these pieces to my wardrobe happily!
返信削除thank you for sharing this pieces. I have to admit though, I'm so confused when it comes to mode / high blogger fashion , I'd really like to try dress this way at times when I want to dress more maturely and away from kuronba and old school gyaru but I really don't know where to start. Do you have any suggestions for basic pieces where I could get the emoda look? I really love all the bold blues and printed / patterned pants though.
返信削除Well using foreign models is very popular in the Japanese fashion scene, more with brands like EMODA and MURUA who take influences from European/Western fashion. You'll notice that brands like Liz Lisa, Cecil McBee, etc they usually use Japanese models since they are targeted towards their young and cute styled Japanese audience. I think it makes them look more professional and cool-er in a way to use foreign models so that they can open up their audience. Brands like this one are aimed at older ladies so using foreign models is a really 'hip' thing to do~
返信削除I love EMODA, and I love this collection and YES beanies are NEVER in style for women.
Right?? I do like it and the theme that Ena has gone for. Some pieces are a bit iffy but overall I think it was a good execution.
返信削除I'm glad you enjoyed this post! :DD and welcome to the Mode / High Fashion style! haha
返信削除H&M is really a perfect place to start since they are a European brand and mode gyaru brands tend to mirror what they have (H&M has some fabulous royal blue colors this season like how EMODA has also!). F21 is kinda meh, I can find "some" pieces but depends on the season. Another good one is MACY's BARIII brand, they mirror mode gyaru pretty well I think and I can always find something I love from that brand that is in style with mode gyaru. I definitely would start at H&M though and go from there! American Apparel has some great blouses that are perfect for mode gyaru, and of course if you go on runway-webstore.com they have brands like MURUA, EMODA, lagunamoon, etc lots of mode gyaru brands that you can buy from and ship overseas. But if you're short on money I'd stick with H&M at first! :)
I think basic mode gyaru pieces from summer are: printed bottoms, deep colors (like a darker pink, royal blue, dark red, etc), flowy blouses are always popular in mode gyaru so I'd go for some styles that you like, white colored items are a frequent piece in mode gyaru fashion, graphic tops are really hot right now so I'd try to look for some (vintage-esque especially), depending on what kind of mode-style you're going for you can try getting some items with spikes and/or studs as brands like MURUA are really into that right now, and shoes like wedges and chunky heels are a base for mode gyaru shoes :) hope this helps!
